StephenS work is produced with quality acrylic paint. A variety of surfaces have been used which include the more traditional stretched canvas, to driftwood found on beaches.
“I was born in Christchurch, New Zealand, and growing up in the South I enjoyed the outdoors and country life. I suppose that’s why I enjoy painting NZ’s birdlife.”
StephenS art includes NZ wildlife – birds in particular, which feature in striking poses on different mediums. The latest series of birds on platter boards is noted for it’s simple yet effective design.
“I moved north later in life, spending time living in the big cities Auckland and Wellington. Much busier than the quiet country life. I think this inspired my other interest in painting vehicles, or aeroplanes. They’re a lot more complex to paint in some ways.”
“I’ve dabbled in other mediums, charcoal and pastel, and oil paints, but I always seem to come back to acrylic paint.”
Qualifications include an Honours Diploma in Art, along with an Honours degree from Waikato University.
StephenS art can be purchased direct, or viewed in galleries around New Zealand.
